ENGL 3103 - Rhetoric and Persuasion


3 credits

Survey of major theories in rhetoric, the 2,500-year-old art of persuasion and purposeful communication, from ancient Greece and Rome through the 21st Century. Students will learn the art of rhetoric by encountering key figures in the rhetorical tradition, studying its principles and theoretical concepts, analyzing models and real-world examples, and applying critical methods to a variety of content. Students refine their ability to make persuasive arguments and critically engage others’ claims. . (Same as COMM/PHIL 3103)
