BIBL 4483 - Daniel, Revelation and the End of All Things


3 credits

This course offers a detailed exploration of the biblical books of Daniel and Revelation, as well as an orientation to apocalyptic literature and its relationship to Christian eschatology. Attention will be given to critical methodologies for the responsible interpretation of scriptural texts and second temple literature that deploy apocalyptic features and conventions, as well as their contributions to theological discourse in the Christian tradition. In addition, students will be guided in considering the relationship between apocalyptic literature from antiquity and the legacy of apocalyptic figures, movements, and media from a variety of eras and cultural contexts.
Prerequisite: BIBL 1053 - The Christian Scriptures  and BIBL 2553 - Biblical Interpretation . Satisfactory completion of at least two other 2000/3000 level BIBL courses or instructor’s permission.
