The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (MACP) may be awarded en route to the PsyD program, after three years of fulltime study in the PsyD program and passage of written and clinical comprehensive exams. In addition, students must be considered in good standing in the program to receive the degree. As such, it is not an independent program and instead is embedded into the PsyD program. Students interested in completing training to be a licensed mental health counselor and not being a psychologist should pursue the MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling available through the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. As an embedded degree, students who receive the MACP are not eligible to participate in commencement ceremony.
