Degree Requirements
Graduates of Northwest University with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science will establish a foundation in software design, programming, and algorithmic thinking, coupled with the breadth of a robust liberal arts education. Designed for flexibility, this program allows students to complement acquisition of computer science skills with other academic interests, making it an ideal path for those pursuing double majors or seeking to apply technology in interdisciplinary contexts.
Students will build a foundation in modern programming languages and algorithm design, learning to create experiences for mobile, cloud, web, and artificial intelligence applications. The BA program further encourages the integration of computer science with fields such as business, communication, and media, fostering readiness for technology-oriented roles in which innovation intersects with human need.
Note: Students preparing for specialized roles in software development, AI engineering, or graduate studies in Computer Science are encouraged to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Students interested in double-majoring and those seeking to bridge technology with other disciplines are encouraged to pursue the Bachelor of Arts.
Graduates with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science will be able to are able to use technical skills and design thinking to reach the following outcomes:
