Northwest University at Salem offers NU education with flexible schedules to meet the unique needs of today’s college students.
Northwest University at Salem supports the strategic mission of the University in multiple ways. First, the Salem campus makes a Northwest University degree accessible to residents of Oregon and Southwest Washington. Accessibility is further enhanced by the fact that the Salem campus is the most affordable private university in Oregon. Second, the Salem campus contributes to the overall impact of Northwest University in Oregon through its graduates as well as through marketing and networking efforts.
The degree programs offered at the Salem campus are designed to equip graduates to be effective leaders in places of service in vocational ministry and the marketplace. Bachelor degrees in the areas of Business Management, Ministry Leadership, and Psychology are currently offered, as are Associate degrees in General Studies and Ministry Leadership. Students seeking to fulfill educational requirements for ministerial credentialing with the Assemblies of God can do so by earning the Certificate in Ministry Leadership at Salem.
The Salem campus offers a unique class schedule. All of the Salem courses are based upon a two-session semester format with each semester divided into two seven-week sessions. As a result, full-time students take only two or three classes during each session, so they can be focused in their learning. Salem students also have the option of taking both onsite and online courses.
The faculty members at Salem are deeply committed to student success. The campus utilizes adjunct professors who invest in students’ academic and personal development. Faculty are not only academically qualified to teach, but most are also currently serving in their area of expertise. This enables instructors to provide teaching that draws upon their educational background and up-to-date vocational experience.
The Salem campus offers supportive structures and systems for students. With high standards of academic excellence, faculty and staff contribute to an environment that facilitates academic and personal development. Engaging relationships with faculty and fellow students provide students with a compelling sense of community, with a strong value placed upon relationships in and outside of the classroom.
Graduates of Northwest University at Salem are carrying the call of God and engaged with human need throughout the United States and internationally. A degree earned at the Salem campus will equip graduates to serve with excellence, wherever God may direct them.

Credit by Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
This institution will evaluate all previous education and training, grant credit where appropriate, reduce the length of the program proportionately, notify the student of any prior credit granted, and keep records of this process on file.
Leave of Absence
A student taking a leave of absence for one semester or more must submit a Request Registration Change Form to the Registrar’s Office and complete the reapplication process when returning.
