HIST 3603 - Church History I

[Meets the Core Curriculum Writing Practice Requirement] A survey of the Christian church from the post-apostolic fathers to the late medieval church on the eve of the sixteenth century Reformation. Topics include the rise of orthodoxy, the many transformations that took place after the conversion of Constantine, the rise of the papacy, the many forms of medieval religious life, and the emergence of new forms of both lay and clerical piety.
