MATH 1523 - Mathematics for Elementary Education I


3 credits

[Meets the General Education Requirements for quantitative reasoning FOR ELEMENTARY EDUCATION MAJORS ONLY.] This is a foundation course for students majoring in Elementary Education. This course includes developing an understanding of number systems, number sense and algebra. Equally important, the course emphasizes a look at problem solving, reasoning and communicating and the building of positive mathematical attitudes. Prerequisites: Instructor Permission if not an Elementary Education major, SAT MATH score of 480/ACT MATH score of 20, or two years of high school algebra, or a satisfactory score on a math placement exam.
