BIBL 2133 - Israelite Monarchy


3 credits

[Meets the Core Curriculum Writing Practice Requirement] A study of 1 Samuel through 2 Kings. This course deals with the formation, development, and demise of the institution of the monarchy in ancient Israel. It is during this period that much of literature of the Old Testament Psalms, Wisdom, and Prophecy develops. This course examines these literary units and the offices prophets, sages, and psalmists that develop during this period. Special attention is given to the office of the monarch with an aim to define the vocation more precisely.

Prerequisite: BIBL 1103 Old Testament History and Literature.
