Graduate Admission Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Arts or Science (or equivalent degree) from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • University coursework, professional experience or certifications in computer science, information technology management or a business-related discipline is preferred. Admitted students without this background are required to take a pre-requisite on-campus course or online course.
  • A minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale on all previous college work.
  • A qualifying score on the Graduate Admissions Test (GMAT)
    • Northwest University’s Institutional Code is #4541
    • The GMAT is WAIVED for applicants with a master’s degree or a 3.0 or higher undergraduate GPA.
  • A completed application.
  • Official transcripts from the institution granting the undergraduate degree.
  • Essay of 250-650 words on relevant experience, career goals, and motivation for graduate study.
  • Two letters of recommendation (one academic and on professional reference).
  • Interview with the graduate enrollment counselor, department chair, program coordinator, and/or dean.
  • International students whose native language is not English must submit a minimum score of 580 (or equivalent) on the TOEFL exam as part of the application process.
  • Applicants without an undergraduate course in finance or accounting must take a 1-credit course prior to their first finance or accounting course.
  • MSITM students may transfer up to 9 credit hours of eligible graduate level coursework (subject to dean’s approval) from an accredited institution towards their degree.

Program Outcomes

Graduates with a degree in Information Technology Management will be able to:

  2. Use transformative management skills to lead an information technology enterprise.
  3. Evaluate data to make strategic business decisions.
  4. Apply project management practices to achieve an organization’s information technology goals.
  5. Create innovative IT-based solutions to complex business challenges for a real-world client.
  6. Examine ethical dilemmas in the information technology management field.
