An introduction to the principles of sustainable development while examining ecologically sustainable communities in the context of environmental degradation, injustice, and impoverishment to people and cultures. The laboratory explores appropriate technology in agriculture, horticulture, water treatment, and energy and natural resource managment. Importance of effectively serving the poor through scientific technology lays a foundation for the application of ethics, and ecologically sound solutions.
