Topics include the discovery of the New World, the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Scientific Revolution, the Enlightenment, the Age of Revolutions, the Industrial Revolution, colonialism and imperialism, the World Wars, the Cold War, and the advent of the 21st century. It investigates the ideas and ideologies and the systems and technologies that propelled the engagement of the West with the rest of the world and which undergird its current relationships.
