Degree Requirements


The Bachelor of Worship and Music Studies is designed to prepare students for careers in the field of music ministry. Graduates of this program will be competent to serve as the Minister of Music or Worship pastor in a local church, and to effectively develop and lead all aspects of a church music program.

Graduates with a degree in Worship and Music Studies will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an undergraduate proficiency level of music theory.
  2. Articulate a biblical philosophy of ministry.
  3. Explain the theological aspects of Christian worship.
  4. Demonstrate core pastoral competency in an applied ministry setting.
  5. Design an effective plan to serve the musical needs of the church.

Worship and Music Studies Major: 50-61

Applied Music Requirements: 8-16


Ensemble Requirements: 4-8


Students are required to participate in at least one ensemble each semester. (Transfer students will consult with advisor.)

Private Music Lessons: 4


Students are required to participate in at least one lesson per semester on major instrument, plus basic proficiency in piano and guitar.
