Degree Requirements


The Bachelor of Arts in Design program (BA/D) is an undergraduate degree that blends creative practice and theoretical learning to equip students with an understanding of design principles, practices, and methodologies. This program covers a wide range of subjects including graphic design, interactive media, human centered design, and visual communication. Students engage in hands-on projects and studio work to develop their design skills, creativity, and ability to solve real-world problems through design solutions. Emphasizing both individual creativity and collaborative projects, the program aims to prepare graduates for diverse careers in the design industry, fostering skills in critical thinking, visual storytelling, and technical proficiency in design tools and software.

Bachelor of Arts in Design Curriculum 

To earn a BA in Design, students must complete a total of 122 credits, including 57 “core” credits (standard across all Northwest University BA degrees), 17 credits of electives and 48 credits specific to the major. The program is designed to be completed by incoming freshmen in four years (eight semesters) and transfer students will typically finish in three years, which might be reduced to two years if they enroll with existing credits compatible with major course requirements.
